WHAT TO EXPECT
-
30 minutes of focused skill-building, play, and real confidence work. There's a 2-minute break built in — your swimmer can ask for it anytime to use the bathroom, get a hug, or grab a drink. I build structure around each swimmer's learning pace and communication style.
-
It happens — especially the first lesson. Help them into the water, then move at least 20 feet away. For toddlers under 4, stay in sight — they'll check in and wave about every 7 minutes. Cheer loudly. That's not an interruption, that's fuel. Remind them that hard things get easier.
-
Cheering: always yes — loudly and often. Coaching cues from the sideline: please don't. If grandparents are dropping off, they need to know the exit plan too. Kids can't take direction from two people at once in the water, and it splits their focus at the exact moment they need it most. I'll handle the guidance. You handle the encouragement.
-
I have ADHD too — I genuinely get it. I know how to keep things moving, make learning happen fast, and hold a child's attention in the water. Every swimmer gets structure built around their pace and energy.
That said, every swimmer in my pool is held to the same standard. I depend on parents to practice verbal cues at home that carry over into lesson time. The more consistent we are together, the faster they grow.

Lessons are 30 minutes, booked back to back. They end at exactly the half-hour mark — on the 30 or on the hour. Please arrive on time. I don't offer back-to-back double lessons — one lesson per session, no exceptions. My brain needs the transition time too.
-
Cancelled lessons don't disappear — they get banked and can be used anytime during the season. Reschedule online through an open slot. If you need help finding a time, text or email me. No refunds.
Bend Golf Club rules — FAQ
BEND GOLF CLUB RULES
-
BGC is an indoor pool in southeast Bend. I'm independently contracted there and teach year-round, January through December.
-
BGC members get priority scheduling and no commitment fee.
Non-members are welcome — but you're second-tier for scheduling, required to pay the commitment fee, and may occasionally be rescheduled if a member requests your slot. Bring your own towel. You have 15 minutes after your lesson to clear the pool area. Locker rooms must be left completely clear of personal items. Quiet voices, no running, adult supervision at all times.

BROKEN TOP RULES
-
Broken Top is an outdoor, gated pool with lifeguards. Lessons run mid-June through end of August, Friday–Sunday, 10am–2pm. No Mondays.
-
Yes. Members or immediate family of members only — bring your account number for pool entry. Arrive 10 minutes early to park, sign in, set up your swim bag, and rinse off before entering the pool.
-
Bring sunscreen and a rash guard — I don't supply either. Be mindful of your child's sun sensitivity.
Do not bring life vests, floaties, squirt guns, or electrical toys on lesson days. If your swimmer still relies on a flotation device, please wait to sign up until they're comfortable in the water without one. "If I see my swimmers in floaties after their lesson, I feel like I don't matter."
Weather: Lessons may be rescheduled for rain, lightning, smoke, cold, or anything outside 70–100°F. AQI above 130 is usually a cancellation — though if it clears by 11am, we often run. Check your inbox or text me the morning of if you're unsure.
